What is a retirement home?
Elderly people in NSW are offered to those who need care and care around the clock because of old age, dementia or other illnesses. There are different types of retirement homes in NSW. An elderly resident may be a combination of these. Places for people with different needs are often offered on different floors.
Dementia residents or group residents in NSW
The dwellings for people with dementia are often called dementia residents or group residents. Group residents are a term that is also used for accommodation for people with other forms of diagnosed disabilities.
Nursing home or somatic accommodation in NSW
People who need care and care around the clock because of old age or other diseases (not dementia) are often offered a place to stay in a nursing home, also known as somatic accommodation.
Short-term residence in NSW
Short-term housing is a form of retirement homes where you have a limited time. A short-term place can be offered before returning home after a hospital stay, as a temporary support to stay at home, to relieve relatives or awaiting permanent residence. When you regularly switch between living at home and short-term residents, it’s usually called exchange or exchange housing.
Service House in NSW
Service houses are offered to people whose care needs are difficult to accommodate in their own homes, but not so extensive that care and care are required 24 hours a day. At service houses, there are usually common areas, home service and access to healthcare professionals.
